Our recent family trip to West Palm Beach was nothing short of spectacular. One of our first stops was the Lion Country Safari. Arriving early gave us a front-row seat to feeding time, with zebras, giraffes, and even lions coming up close to the road. This gave our girls, Scarlett and Siena, an extraordinary chance to view these magnificent creatures in a natural setting. The experience was especially thrilling for Scarlett who had been looking forward to seeing the lions, and for me, witnessing the giraffes up close was a special treat. Post the drive-through safari, we explored the walk-through part of the park, teeming with flamingos, birds, and fish. A water park, merry-go-round, and plenty of giggles rounded off an absolutely fantastic day.
A Journey Under the Sea: Loggerhead Marinelife Center
Next, we immersed ourselves in the world of sea turtles at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. As a nonprofit that rescues and rehabilitates turtles, it was heartwarming to see the dedication and care they put into nurturing these creatures back to health. Scarlett especially loved seeing Dandelion, a juvenile turtle, making laps around her tank. The visit was an education in marine life, with Scarlett eagerly asking questions and soaking in the fascinating world of sea turtles.
Unraveling Mysteries of Science: Cox Science Center and Aquarium
Our thirst for knowledge led us to the Cox Science Center and Aquarium. With its impressive array of interactive exhibits and fascinating marine life, the Center proved to be an exciting hands-on learning experience for the whole family. Scarlett and Siena particularly enjoyed the bustling activity of the fish in the aquarium, including a charismatic puffer fish. The Center's engaging experiments and AI section were a major hit, making learning about lightning, magnets, and brain functions fun and engaging.
Soaring High: First Flights
Our trip to West Palm Beach wouldn't haven taken place without experiencing the thrill of a first flight from Atlanta. From the moment we set foot in the airport to our plane touching down in West Palm Beach, every part of the journey was an adventure. Scarlett reveled in every aspect, from the bus ride to the airport, through security checks, onto the train, and finally, the airplane ride itself. Her eyes sparkled with joy as she marveled at the cloud shapes from the airplane window, narrating her observations to her stuffed animal friend.
