I’m quitting my full-time job. Yes, I said it. I am.
I’ve worked since I was 15 years old. I’ve worked for family – twice – I’ve worked in radio, festivals, events, tourism, and most recently for 15 years in the Chamber of Commerce Industry.
It’s hard work! Leading a non-profit organization is a moving target. No matter how strong you are, how great of a leader you are – you can’t stop your boss from changing annually. And for me, that was the hardest part of the job.
Yes, you’re doing great things for your community, but you’re on 24-7. On: all. the. time. So, are you really doing what’s best for you and your family? For me, no.
So now it’s time to do what’s best for us. A new season is coming, I’m going to take a while to just be mom. I worked through maternity leave, vacations, COVID, and it’s now time to be present. (I mean, I bought an IWatch because it allowed me not to be as attached to my phone – glance and go!)
I want to make more memories, see the giggles, and see if this SAHM thing is for me. She’s three, and I’m not a 20 something Mommy. Life is short, and I want to take it all in and be there.
I’m thankful that my husband is supportive and for the next few months (at least) I get to focus on our family. When Daddy is home, Mommy gets to go on adventures too – not lock herself upstairs or work until 2am to catch up. I’m going to be Mommy and have fun too!
*A nonprofit rant may come soon…. 😉
