Events

Acworth Art Fest
The Acworth Art Fest returns Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, 2024! The historic district on Main Street in downtown Acworth provides a delightful backdrop for 100whimsical and talented artisans from around the country. Their creative booth displays decorate our charming streets with paintings, pottery, metalwork, folk art, glass, jewelry, yard art, and much more! Saturday hours will be from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. And
Sunday hours will be 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  At the Acworth Art Fest, the always energetic Kidz Zone is filled with fun activities that make smiles bloom. This vibrant play-land is an exhilarating place to be for young people and their happy parents. Of course, there is wonderful food from Acworth’s own eateries, and shoppers will also find delectable treats in the food court to satisfy their taste buds. The City’s art scene is growing, downtown shops and galleries are hopping, and the Acworth Art Fest is the sweet cherry on top of our delicious and enchanting community!


LIVE at Logan
Live at Logan Farm Park returns on Saturday, April 20, 2024. The Acworth Arts Alliance will be partnering with the City of Acworth to bring you Live at Logan Farm Park featuring a free concert. Live at Logan Farm Park is the annual Acworth Arts Alliance and the Acworth Art House fundraiser. Event proceeds from sponsor tables support the Acworth Arts Alliance, specifically to fund a scholarship for students pursuing a degree in art as well as to fund arts initiatives in underfunded programs and among the under-served in our community. Acworth Farmers Market
The 2024 Historic Downtown Acworth Farmer’s Market will take place on Friday mornings between April 5 and October 25 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The market is located in the Logan Farm Park Expansion, located at 4405 Cherokee Street in Acworth. Market customers will have a wide variety of garden ripe Georgia grown vegetables, eggs, cheese, bedding plants, fresh-baked bread, pies, cakes, honey, and jams to
City of Acworth – April 2024 choose from each week. This year’s market will be bigger and better than previous years and shoppers won’t believe the selection of homegrown goodies! The Acworth Farmer’s Market is proudly sponsored by the Acworth Downtown Development Authority.

Community Classes

BSD Taekwon-Do
This is a traditional Taekwon-Do class for adults. Students will learn balance, focus, self-control, and grow their confidence. Traditional skills are designed to promote health, lower stress levels, and develop the whole body without the use of weapons. Come kick, punch, and destress with us so that you can become your best. BUILD Yoga
Join Marlo from Backbends and Brews in this great fitness class! BUILD is a very dynamic class using yoga postures, plyometrics, hand weights, and calisthenics to BUILD strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance. Marlo donates 20% of class fees to charity! Classes are held on Wednesdays from 9:05 a.m. To 9:50 a.m. Monthly and drop-in rates are available. Www.acworthparksandrecreation.org


Bend & Breathe Yoga
Join Marlo for a yoga class that targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body. Marlo donates 20% of class fees to charity! Classes are held on Wednesdays from 8:15 a.m. To 9:00 a.m. Monthly and drop-in rates are available.

Pickleball Lessons
Learn to play America’s fastest growing game with a one hour lesson here at the Acworth Community Center! Times and prices vary so check out www.acworthparksandrec.org to schedule your time! All levels are welcome!


Barre
A 45-minute, low impact, muscular endurance workout that focuses on high repetitions and small, isometric movements. We target each major muscle group at a time, combined with stretches in between while also incorporating mobility workouts. Enjoy a fun workout to upbeat music! Light weights, resistance bands, yoga straps, and exercise balls are often incorporated in class. Tuesdays & Thursdays from 8am-8:45am


Mat Pilates
Mat Pilates class is an accessible, low impact workout that focuses on strength, stability, posture, proper breath control, and flexibility. The class will lengthen and strengthen your muscles while giving you a full-body workout. Improves bad posture, increases physical vitality and facilitates mind-body awareness. Tuesdays & Thursdays 9am-9:45am


Women's Self Defense Workshop
This is a fun, energetic class full of support and encouragement. You will leave feeling knowledgeable and empowered. This is not a "sit and talk" class! You will learn actual physical techniques that can help you fight back! May 15th 6:00pm-7:30pm

Athletics

Acworth Spring Itty Bitty Ballers
Itty Bitty Ballers is a non-competitive program to help three and four year-olds develop basic skills for sports programs in the future. The program gives children a chance to explore a variety of different sports all in one program such as soccer, T-ball, and basketball. Spring camp is held every Monday and Wednesday starting Monday, April 22 and running through Wednesday, May 15 from at the Acworth Community Center. Classes will take place late afternoon. Registration is $50 for City of Acworth residents and $65 for non-residents. The deadline to register for this program is April 3. Acworth Summer Sports Camps
Registration for Acworth’s annual Summer Camp Sports Series begins April 1 for residents and April 8 for non-residents. Each camp focuses on fundamentals and skills of a different sport. Each camp is $45 for City of Acworth residents and $55 for non-residents. All participants will receive an official Acworth Sports Camp swag item. Camp schedules, locations, and age groups are still being finalized but will take place in the
evenings in June. Sports will include volleyball, basketball, baseball, soccer & speed & agility.

Youth Programs

Mother-Son Campout
The Acworth Parks, Recreation, and Community Resource Department is excited to now host our annual Mother-Son Camp Out at Proctor in May just one week before Mother's Day Weekend. Its the perfect opportunity for moms and sons to spend quality time together before the special holiday. Mother-Son Camp Out takes place at Proctor Landing Park, located at 5260 Proctor Landing Rd Acworth, GA 30101. Check in begins at 12:00 p.m. On Saturday, May 4. All participants must depart Proctor Landing Park by 10:00 am on Sunday, May 5. In the event of rain, activities will still be held throughout the day and camping will be optional that evening. This event may be cancelled if lightning/thunderstorms are forecasted for the whole weekend.

Special Warriors Tae Kwon-Do
Special Warriors Tae Kwon-Do is a great program for the young community with special needs. The traditional skills of Tae Kwon-Do have been adapted to teach focus, balance, hand-eye coordination, and effective self-defense. This class is instructed by Omar Welch who is a third-degree black belt and instructor certified by the United States Tae Kwon-Do Federation. Classes will meet monthly at the Acworth Community
Center on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. To 10:30 a.m. Www.acworthparksandrecreation.org


BSD Tae Kwon-Do
This class is designed to teach young people (ages 6+) balance, hand to eye coordination, and self-control using traditional Tae Kwon-Do exercises. This is a traditional Tae Kwon-Do class. Using proven techniques to teach confidence, self-control, balance and self-defense, certified instructor Omar Welch will help students sharpen their minds and learn to use their hands and feet to protect themselves and
loved ones. This class meets at the Acworth Community Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monthly sessions are available. Www.acworthparksandrecreation.org.


Little Dragons Tae Kwon-Do
This class is designed to teach young people (ages 4-7) balance, hand to eye coordination, and self-control using traditional Tae Kwon-Do exercises. Parents are welcome to take the class with their children, but it is not required. This class meets at the Acworth Community Center on Saturdays from 10:45 a.m. To 11:15 a.m. Monthlysessions are available. Www.acworthparksandrecreation.org.


Bricks 4 Kidz (Ages 5-13)
Wednesdays 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Learn, build, and play with LEGO bricks.


Beginner Baton Twirling
Looking for something fun and new for your energetic kiddo? Join Majorette Beverly for a super fun introduction to baton twirling!
This exciting 6 week class will cover all of the basics of baton twirling for beginners. Using rudimental movements, students will learn twirling and dance moves with musical routines! Tuesdays 6:30pm-7:pm


Kids' Production Training
ASLP's 2024 Spring Sitcom Program is a 12-week session that teaches kids how to write and produce their own show! No prior knowledge needed. Saturdays 9am-10am 


Tumbling and Flexibility
Tumbling and Flexibility with Coach Kenzie offers tumbling, jump, flexibility, and motion training for kids of all ages! These hour long sessions are designed to safely and effectively improve the basic skills and techniques for all areas of Cheerleading. Mondays & Fridays 5pm & 6pm

April Day Trip #1: Chick-fil-A Backstage Tour- Date: Monday, April 8, 2024
See behind the scenes at the Chick-fil-A and enjoy a fun storytelling experience about the history, culture, and values of the company. Bus departs from the Acworth Community Center at 9:00am (4361 Cherokee Street Acworth, GA 30101).

April Day Trip #2: Banning Mills Zip Lining- Friday, April 19, 2024
Feel the rush of the wind in your hair! Join us for a high flying adventure as we take on the Forest or Woodland Tour! Enjoy 9 zip lines, one or two sky bridges and a tower.  (Maximum weight 250lbs for females and 285 for males). Bus departs from the Acworth Community Center at 10:00am (4361 Cherokee Street Acworth, GA 30101).

May Day Trip #1: Horseback Trail Ride- Monday, May 13, 2024
Join us for a trail ride on beautiful horses in Mineral Bluff, GA. (Maximum weight 240lbs). Bus departs from the Acworth Community Center at 10:00am (4361 Cherokee Street Acworth, GA 30101).
Minimum Number of People: 10

May Day Trip #2: Mystery Trip- Friday, May 24, 2024
This trip is for all abilities and hopefully includes locations you have never visited before! We will make three stops during this mystery trip! Don’t miss out! Bus departs from the Acworth Community Center at 9:00am (4361 Cherokee Street Acworth, GA 30101).

Cards and Cookies
Twice a month on Mondays from 2 to 4 PM. Some games and cookies will be provided, but if you have a specific game you would like to play, please bring it. Learn a new game, make a new friend, and indulge in a cookie or two!

City of Acworth’s Senior Luncheon:
Join us every third Wednesday of the month for the City of Acworth’s Senior Luncheon. Come join us for lunch and Bingo. This program is free to all seniors, but you must RSVP to attend. Reservations can be made starting the first of the month.

Want to get involved in the Community and give back? Join the Good Neighbors Network and volunteer in and around our area! Each Month we will volunteer somewhere new! Transportation to location will be provided.
